Magnoliarun Cavaliers’ Story

A new litter of puppies

When I decided that I wanted to get into Cavaliers in the spring of 2018, I wanted to make sure I was doing things the “right” way. I started networking with the CKCSC, which is the national parent club for the Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. This club advises the AKC as to the breed standards. My first show was a show in Atlanta, Georgia where I met my current mentors, Pat Mixon and Caryna Baker Fox.

Pat Mixon is currently the President of the CKCSC. Not only are her dogs beautiful, but they are healthy. This was of the upmost importance for me in selecting my first female cavalier. At the show in Atlanta, I got to work the health clinic, and I was immediately attracted to Pat Mixon’s kennel because all of her dogs easily passed through the heart health clinic.

In the fall of 2018, I was able to bring home my beloved girl “Maggie” also known affectionately as “Magpie,” who was bred by Pat Mixon. I flew to Tallahassee, Florida to pick up Maggie. Maggie is now retired having had four (4) litters. Maggie was extensively health tested as required by the CKCSC club. On an annual basis, she has her eyes and heart checked. At the moment she is over five (5) years of age and heart clear!

Maggie was bred to Pascavale Smarty. Together, they produced my current top female dog, “Lightening.” Lightening is the momma dog of my current litter of puppies. She has been shown in the AKC. My litter of 2024 is Lightening’s second litter. She was bred to a super yummy tri color male, GCH Suma Creek Lime Light, also known as “Getty.” I cannot say enough good things about Getty. He has had extensive health testing and produces gorgeously healthy lap dogs.

My daughter Allison has been very involved in showing the dogs as a Junior at the CKCSC shows. My son David sometimes joins in and takes a dog into the ring. It’s a great family activity and the kids love their dog show friends.

Cavaliers are like potato chips, and it’s hard to stop at just one! At the moment we currently have three adult dogs. I am a hobby breeder and only breed to have dogs to show. I have become more and more active in both the AKC and the CKSCS. I am currently looking to join the CKCSC board as a director at the regional level. We continue to exhibit our award-winning dogs, and occasionally we love to usher new babies into the world.

Please enjoy this website. It is meant to serve as a resource for our puppy families. Our intent is to share what we have learned over the years from other experienced Cavalier breeder/exhibitors. We hope you find this site helpful as you search for your perfect companion Cavalier.

We are affiliated with and active in both the CKCSC-USA and the AKC clubs. We enjoy showing in both clubs and we dual register our dogs.
